Description
Photographed at Sólheimasandur, the US Navy DC-3 that crash-landed in 1973 remains on the black volcanic sand, stripped by wind and salt. The airframe has lost function but gained context, shifting from transport to landmark in Iceland’s coastal landscape.
The image centers on presence rather than event, using the abandoned structure and low light to emphasize endurance over drama.
